Accord Party’s Deregistration, A Violation Of Court of Appeal Order -Adeleke

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed his disagreement with the judgment by the Federal High Court in Abuja, which deregistered five political parties.

He described this action as a misuse of judicial proceedings and a direct violation of an existing order from the Court of Appeal.

This statement was released in Osogbo on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

Governor Adeleke contended that the Court of Appeal had previously issued a stay of proceedings on the matter, and he expressed surprise that the lower court proceeded to deliver a judgment despite the existing order.

“It is documented before Honourable Justice Peter Lifu that the record of proceedings from the Court of Appeal dated 22nd May, 2026, was presented before his Lordship as Exhibit MAC 2. The Court of Appeal explicitly stated that the delivery of the judgment remains part of the court’s proceedings,” the statement partially read.

The governor urged residents to remain calm, asserting that the appellate court would address the matter on Tuesday, and he expressed confidence that the situation would be resolved in favour of his party.

“I urge the people of Osun to remain calm and be assured that our rights will be upheld, and our party, the Accord, will be listed on the ballot on August 15th. We will not only be present on the ballot, but we will also achieve an overwhelming victory in the upcoming governorship election. Let us remain calm and continue mobilizing our people.

“I also wish to assure our people that the launch of our campaign will proceed as scheduled tomorrow. They aim to distract us, but we are moving forward and we are confident of winning this election. Our legal team is taking all necessary steps to address this issue,” stated the governor.
