Rotary District 9127 Appoints Ezeji As Assistant Gov, Chair WASH

The District Governor-Elect of Rotary International District 9127, Sikiru Adetona Owonikoko, has appointed Joachim Ibeziako Ezeji as Assistant Governor and Chair of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) for the 2026/2027 Rotary year.

In a formal letter addressed to Mr. Ezeji, a member of the Rotary Club of Garki Abuja, the District Governor-Elect highlighted that this appointment recognizes Mr. Ezeji’s leadership qualities and contributions to Rotary activities.

According to the letter, Mr. Ezeji will serve as a vital connection between the District Governor and the assigned clubs, thereby supporting efforts to build stronger, well-coordinated, and effective Rotary clubs throughout the district.

His responsibilities will include guiding clubs to align with Rotary objectives, assisting in setting measurable goals, mentoring club leaders, promoting transparency and accountability, and ensuring the timely submission of reports and dues.

Additionally, Mr. Ezeji is expected to facilitate communication between the district and clubs, actively participate in district activities, support official visits, and address challenges that may affect club growth and development.

The District Governor-Elect emphasized that Mr. Ezeji’s appointment was based on merit and expressed confidence in his ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

The District Learning Seminar is scheduled to occur from February 10 to February 13, 2027, and Mr. Ezeji is required to complete the Assistant Governor Essentials Course at the Rotary International Learning Centre in preparation for the seminar.

The appointment will commence in the 2026/2027 Rotary year.

Similarly, Dr. Joachim Ezeji has been appointed as the District Chair for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) of Rotary Club District 9127 for the 2026/2027 term.

This appointment was communicated to him in a letter signed by Yusuf Ali, the District Executive Secretary.

Mr. Ali informed that the appointment is a result of Dr. Ezeji’s leadership skills, commitment to Rotary International’s goals, passion for service to humanity, and proven ability to create a lasting impact.

Mr. Ali stated that Dr. Ezeji’s responsibilities will include leading district-wide WASH programs and advocacy, supporting clubs in implementing projects related to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, building partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations on WASH initiatives, monitoring and evaluating the impact of WASH projects across the district, and reporting on WASH program outcomes
to the District Governor.
As an Assistant Governor, Ezeji will have the responsibility for Rotary Club of Abuja Urban and Rotary Club of Keffi.
Both appointments takes effect on July 1, 2026.
