Ngwoma Obube: Monarch Demands Apology From Anuforo

The Traditional Ruler of Egbelu Obube Autonomous Community in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, His Royal Highness Eze Jude Nwaogu, has formally requested an apology from Mr. Ephraim Anuforo.

This request stems from accusations made by Mr. Anuforo, alleging that Eze Nwaogu interfered in the kingship succession dispute affecting the neighboring Ngwoma Obube Community.

Eze Nwaogu has also refuted Mr. Anuforo’s claims that he diverted materials intended for the protection of the Ngwoma Obube Community.

In a letter written by Chief Teddy Obi Akwari Esq of Testel Law Konsults Owerri, the monarch further demanded that Mr. Anuforo retracts a publication he made regarding this matter in Newsbreak Newspaper.

The traditional ruler acknowledged that he attended a ceremony at the headquarters of the Owerri North Local Government Council on March 31, 2026, where security equipment were distributed to various communities within the council area.

In his role as Chairman of the Owerri North Council of Traditional Rulers, he affirmed that he signed and handed over the security equipment designated for Ngwoma Obube to the Divisional Police Officer, who subsequently transferred them to the community’s vigilante members.

This procedure was followed due to the absence of a recognized president general and traditional ruler for the Ngwoma Obube Community, he said.

The Egbelu Obube monarch asserted that Mr. Anuforo’s publication was driven by malice, naivety, and a desire to undermine his reputation.

It is worth noting that the Ngwoma Obube Community has been entangled in a succession dispute for the traditional leadership since the passing of its last ruler.

A faction within the community, led by a prominent businessman, is reportedly interested in ascending to the royal throne, potentially using a proxy to gauge public response.

Additionally, the town union, headed by Mr. Anuforo as president general, has reportedly been disbanded.
