Police Apprehend Soldier For Alleged Armed Robbery

A soldier currently serving in Abia State, Lance Corporal Chukwuebuka Peter, has been taken into custody for allegedly abducting an individual and unlawfully obtaining the sum of N4.9 million from him.

Lance Corporal Chukwuebuka, who hails from the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, confessed to participating in the armed robbery alongside another soldier, identified as Ifeanyi, who is serving at the 13 Brigade in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

In a video shared on the Police/Media Forum on Wednesday, Lance Corporal Chukwuebuka admitted to receiving N1.5 million as his share of the stolen funds.

The two soldiers reportedly subjected their victim to severe physical assault, even employing an axe during the attack.

When questioned about his perspective on their actions, Lance Corporal Chukwuebuka acknowledged the illegality of their conduct and expressed remorse for their actions, stating, “It is very wrong of me to indulge in this operation.”

As of the time of publication, the police authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
