Supreme Court Never Recognized Emezi As Awaka Monarch-Eze-Elect, Onyemanze

The Eze-Elect of Awaka Ancient Kingdom, located in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, Engineer Onyemanze David-Osuagwu, has clarified that the Supreme Court of the country has not recognized Charles Emezi as the legitimate traditional ruler of the community.

It has been reported that Charles Emezi claimed the apex court issued a judgement on January 27, 2026, which affirmed him as the traditional ruler.

However, Engineer Onyemanze David-Osuagwu asserted that this claim is a misinterpretation of the court’s ruling on that date.

He explained that the Supreme Court’s decision pertained to whether the appeal involving the late traditional ruler, Eze Desmond David, could continue posthumously.

The court decided against the continuation, as the deceased king was sued in his individual capacity.

Engineer Onyemanze thus dismissed the media report inspired by Emezi as not only false and misleading but also a deliberate attempt to misinterpret the Supreme Court’s decision with the intention of causing confusion and discord within the community.

The Eze-Elect urged residents, indigenes, and individuals of goodwill to disregard the report.
