Author, Chimamanda Adichie Loses Son
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the esteemed author, and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, are mourning the loss of one of their twin sons, Nkanu Nnamdi.

The statement reads: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing of one of Ms. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Dr. Ivara Esege’s twin boys, Nkanu Nnamdi, who departed on Wednesday, the 7th of January 2026, after a brief illness. He was 21 months old.
“The family is devastated by this immense loss, and we kindly request that their privacy be honored during this incredibly difficult period.
“We ask for your grace and prayers as they grieve in private.
“No further statements will be issued, and we express our gratitude to the public and the media for respecting their need for seclusion during this time of profound sorrow.”
