Okorocha’s Niece Appears In Court For Allegedly Duping Kanu
A legal case concerning alleged fraudulent activities is currently underway in a Magistrate Court in Abuja, involving one Ms. Uche David Obinali.
She is accused by Prince Daniel Kanu of committing a criminal breach of trust and cheating.
Ms. Obinali, a 49-year-old businesswoman and niece to former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, is alleged to have deceived Prince Kanu and collected the sum of N127 million from him.
According to a police report, Mr. Kanu filed a petition dated September 23, 2025, at the Garki Police Station.
He claims that Ms. Obinali obtained $20,000 from him under the false pretense of repatriating her late brother’s remains from the United States to Nigeria for burial.
However, it was later revealed that the brother had been interred in May 2024, a year prior to the purported transaction.
Furthermore, Mr. Kanu accuses Ms. Obinali of acquiring a Mercedes Benz GLS 450 car, a Toyota Sienna bus, four containers, and additional funds, all totaling N127 million.
The case had been brought before the Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, with Ms. Obinali facing charges of criminal breach of trust and cheating, in violation of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code Law.
Ms. Obinali, who resides at No. 18 Lord Lugard Street, Asokoro, Abuja, had been arraigned and granted bail.
The proceedings are scheduled to continue on November 11, 2025.
