Two Imo Women Beg Imo CP, DSS To Facilitate Release Of Husbands
Two women, Mrs. Uzochi Glory Nnorom and Mrs Rachael Okereke have appealed to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, the state Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma and Department of State Security DSS to facilitate the release of their husbands from the custody of the 34 Field Artillery Brigade Obieze.
Mrs Nnorom’s husband Chimamkpa Nnorom, and Mrs. Okereke’s husband, Mmadueke Okereke, both natives of Umuugwuta Village in Ndegwu Community, Owerri West LGA of Imo State have in detention for about a month.
The women explained that their husbands were arrested following a minor quarrel which escalated into a physical fight.
During the scuffle, one Mr. Okezuo Ogbos sustained a head injury, while Mr. Chimamkpa Nnorom sustained an injury at his back.
The incident reportedly occurred in the night of Sunday, August 31, 2025.
The matter was initially reported to the Ndegwu Eagle Eyes Vigilante Security Group, who, instead of resolving it allegedly facilitated the arrest of the two men by soldiers.
According to the women, the arrest was carried out on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, on the prompting of Mr. Okezuo’s brother, a serving soldier who allegedly influenced military operatives to detain his two kinsmen.
Mrs. Nnorom and Mrs. Okereke decried the continued detention of their husbands, insisting that the matter was purely a civil dispute that ought to have been peacefully resolved in the community.
They alleged that the arrest and detention were masterminded by a corporal, who, according to them, is exploiting military authority to settle personal and communal scores.
The women further revealed that soldiers had stormed and searched their homes in Ndegwu Community in an attempt to recover firearms, but nothing incriminating was discovered.
They appealed to the military authorities in Imo State, the state government, and relevant law enforcement agencies to ensure justice and secure the release of their husbands.
They also called for the transfer of the case to the Nigerian Police Force, Imo State Command, stressing their readiness to pursue the matter in a court of competent jurisdiction if necessary.
