Imo roads akin to war trenches, Amadi asserts
Chima Matthew Amadi, a prospective candidate in the 2027 governorship election in Imo State, has criticized Senator Hope Uzodimma’s administration, stating that it has neglected the state’s roads, which have deteriorated to the point of resembling war trenches.
Amadi’s views were expressed through his media aide, Cajetan Duke, as he welcomed President Bola Tinubu on his one-day working visit to Imo State.
He advised the president not to be deceived by the projects lined up for commissioning but to gauge the sentiment of the people during his visit.
According to Amadi, the president should visit Yar’Adua Drive, Umuguma area, or New Owerri to witness the level of dilapidation on the capital city’s roads.
Amadi noted that Governor Uzodimma has prioritized paving federal roads to secure federal funding while neglecting state roads.
He stated that the deplorable condition of roads within Owerri metropolis is indicative of the worse state of roads in rural areas.
Amadi described Governor Uzodimma as an absentee landlord, ruling the state through a proxy.
President Tinubu is scheduled to visit Imo State today (Tuesday, September 30) to commission several projects executed by the Uzodimma administration, including the Assumpta/Control Post Roundabout Flyover and the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Owerri.
