34 FAB Commander Decorates Eight Officers With New Ranks

The Commander, 34 Field Artillery Brigade(FAB) Obinze, Imo State Brigadier General I.M. Abass has commended personnel of the Brigade for their exceptional service, describing them as the best set of officers he has encountered throughout his duty at various posts in the Nigerian Army.
The Commander made the remark during the decoration of six officers who were promoted from the rank of Captain to Majors and two who were promoted from the rank of Lieutenant to Captain, at the Army Officers Mess, Obinze Barracks.
Those promoted from Captain to Majors were; Stephen Gabriel, Udochukwu Adiele, Muhammed Saud, Joseph Baba Akubo, Anofoye Abi Deen.
Those promoted from Lieutenant to Captain were; Muhydeen Adeniran and Hilarion Mmeriebekini.
He attributed all the successes recorded by the Brigade in the fight against insecurity, to their astuteness, pragmatism and dedication to duty, saying they make his work in the state easy.
While congratulating the newly promoted officers, the Brigade Commander described their promotion, as well deserved, and call to redouble their efforts and rededicate themselves to the service of their fatherland,
Fielding questions from newsmen after the occasion, the member representing Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Eugene Dibiagwu who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, lauded the Nigerian Army for recognizing and rewarding hardwork.
He further appreciated the Army for the good work it is doing in the state, noting that if not for the dogged effort of troops and officers of the Nigerian Army, criminals would have long overrun the state.
Also speaking, Major Joseph Baba Akubo, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 34 Field Artillery Brigade who was promoted from the rank of Captain to Major praised God for the milestone.
He also appreciated his wife, children, family, friends and members of the press for their support which he said, made his work easy and earned him the promotion, expressing overwhelming joy at the development.
He promised, on behalf of his fellow promoted officers, to continue to work hard.
“We will pick up from where we are and continue to work hard, in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, as well as the Brigade Commander.
“The vision is one. To make Imo State peaceful, that is the goal and that’s what we are striving at”, Major Akubo enthused.
Meanwhile, Major Akubo was singled out for special commendations by the Garrison Commander, who described him as a workaholic, dependable subordinate and ally. The special commendation for Major Akubo was corroborated by other dignitaries who spoke at the occasion, adding to a special letter of commendation already given to him by the Brigade Commander.
