Orluzurumee PG Urges FG To Release Kanu
The President General of the Orluzurumee Socio-Cultural Organization, the apex socio-cultural body representing the Orlu zone of Imo State, has reiterated the call for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking at the organization’s executive session in Owerri, the President General emphasized that Mazi Kanu’s prolonged detention continues to fuel tension in the South-East and hinder genuine peace-building efforts.
He appealed to the Federal Government to heed the growing calls from eminent Nigerians and Igbo leaders who have consistently advocated dialogue and political resolution of the issue.
“It is time to demonstrate statesmanship and national healing. The release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will go a long way to calm frayed nerves and open a new chapter of reconciliation in Nigeria,” the President General stated.
Nzekwe emphasized the urgent need to show leadership and embrace reconciliation. According to the President General, Mazi Kanu’s release will mark a bold step toward rebuilding trust and promoting national unity.
He further reaffirmed Orluzurumee’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, unity, and development across the Orlu zone, while urging all stakeholders to pursue justice, equity, and fair play within the Nigerian federation.
The meeting, attended by members of the Orluzurumee Executive Committee, also reviewed ongoing socio-cultural initiatives and reiterated the organization’s non-partisan stance as a people-focused movement.
