Imo SWAN Mourns Ex-Heartland FC Official Tonnex Chukwu
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State Chapter, has expressed profound sorrow over the untimely demise of Mr. Tonnex Chukwu, former Media Officer for Enyimba FC and ex-official at Heartland FC.
Mr. Chukwu, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a recent road accident, was highly esteemed within the sporting community for his professionalism, humility, and steadfast dedication to the development of football in Nigeria.
His passing has caused deep grief among colleagues, friends, and stakeholders.
A seasoned sports journalist, Mr. Chukwu held the role of Media Officer at Enyimba FC before assuming positions as General Coordinator, Protocol, and Licensing Officer at Heartland FC. In these capacities, he distinguished himself through diligence, competence, and a comprehensive understanding of football administration and media relations.
His contributions significantly improved operational standards and strengthened relationships within the football ecosystem.
In response to this tragic event, the Chairman of Imo SWAN, Mr. Cosmos Chukwuemeka, described the late Mr. Chukwu as a committed journalist and sports administrator who epitomized excellence.
“The passing of Tonnex Chukwu is a devastating loss to the sports writing fraternity in Imo State and the Nigerian football community. He was an exemplary professional, a reliable colleague, and a fervent advocate for the advancement of sports. We have lost not only a colleague but also a brother and friend,” Mr. Chukwuemeka stated.
