Imo ADC Inaugurates Excos in 21 LGAs, Urges Aggrieved Members to Seek Redress

The Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated its party chairmen, vice chairmen, and secretaries in 21 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.

The inauguration took place on Thursday, 25th September, 2025, at the state party secretariat behind INEC office, off Port Harcourt road, Owerri.

In his address, the state chairman of the party, Professor James Okoroma, stated that the inauguration of LGA officials was in line with the provision of article 13 of the party’s constitution, which stipulates a total of 53 positions for LGA Exco and working committee put together.

He pointed out that the reason for the inauguration of chairmen, vice chairmen, and secretaries was to make room to accommodate those who would join the party from other political parties.

He informed that officials of the party in the remaining 6 LGAs would be inaugurated as soon as harmonizations in the areas were concluded.

“Today, we are going to inaugurate chairmen, vice chairmen, and secretaries in some LGAs to accommodate more interests. We have stretched it to include other parties in partnership with us,” Okoroma said.

The Ahiazu Mbaise-born chairman noted that the party, as an institution, was supreme, adding that no individual is greater than an institution.

He, however, called on aggrieved members of the party to explore the party’s “internal grievance redress mechanism”, stressing that no one can challenge party decisions in Nigeria.
