Ex-Lawmaker, Celestine Njoku Dies At 94
A former member of the Imo State House of Assembly, Honorable Celestine Ajuzieogu Chinedu Njoku, who represented the Aboh Mbaise State Constituency, has sadly passed away at the age of 94 years.
Honorable Njoku, hailing from Aronta Mbutu in Aboh Mbaise Local Government, was a distinguished educationist who retired as a Federal Chief Education Officer before embarking on a career in politics.
He was also a prolific author, having written numerous books including: “Rulership and Leadership in Igbo Communities” (2007); “Challenges of Democracy and Governance in Nigeria” (2009); “History and Culture of Mbaise” (2003); and “Understanding Knighthood Order in the Church” (2010).
Honorable Njoku was a prominent community leader and was honored with the chieftaincy titles of Ogbuhere Uzo I of Mbutu and Nze Anyanwu Onwuka II. He was also a member of the British-Nigeria Institute of Training and Development.
A devout Christian of the Anglican Communion, he was a Knight of Saint Christopher, KSC. He was an alumnus of the University of Ife and Huddersfield Polytechnic, England.
He was married to Lady Regina A. Njoku, who had previously departed this world. He leaves behind three sons to mourn his passing: Chief Chukwuma Njoku, Chief Chukus Odogwo Njoku, and Sir Chinedu Njoku.
The family will announce the burial arrangements in due course. May his soul rest in the bosom of the Lord, and may the Lord grant those he left behind the strength to bear this profound loss. Amen.
