Aspirants Accuse NDC Of Ticket Racketeering
Aspirants on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have alleged that the party is engaging in the illicit sale of election tickets.
The spokesperson for the aspirants, Kingdom Okere, who made this accusation, expressed concern over certain leaders taking advantage of Mr. Peter Obi’s popularity to engage in transactional politics.
Mr. Okere, who contested for the House of Representatives seat for the Owerri Federal Constituency, pledged to advocate within the party to ensure the realization of the envisioned new Nigeria.
He asserted that the issues prevalent in other political parties, which the NDC pledged to eliminate, must not be permitted to manifest in the new party.
The NDC was officially registered in February of this year. Its national leader is Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, who previously served as the governor of Bayelsa State for two terms.
The party has selected Mr. Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
This week, Mr. Obi urged party members to comply with the leadership’s decisions regarding nominations for the various elections.
