Rochas Has Repaid Uzodimma, Karma Is Real, Says Ada Owere
Her Excellency Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the Labour Party’s candidate for the upcoming 2027 House of Representatives election in the Owerri Federal Constituency, has reflected on the electoral injustice she experienced at the hands of Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma in 2022, asserting that wrongdoing ultimately returns to those who commit it.
The former First Lady of Ondo State expressed her satisfaction with the recent court ruling that restored the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Imo West Senatorial District to former Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, previously held by Governor Uzodimma.
Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu made these remarks on Saturday , October 31 during a private gathering in Egbu, Owerri North Local Government Area, held in support of her candidacy.
“You are all aware that I contested for the Senate seat of Owerri Zone in 2022. I participated in the primary election under the APC platform. Governor Uzodimma made significant efforts to impede my candidacy. There exists a video illustrating my passionate response to the situation. If you have not seen it, I encourage you to do so. Nevertheless, that is now behind us. I am pleased that Okorocha has acknowledged my plight. Karma is indeed real.”
Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu, who holds the chieftaincy titles of Ada Owere 1 and Ada Emeabiam 2, assured the constituents of Owerri Federal Constituency of her commitment to effective and robust representation upon her election to the National Assembly.
She expressed her dismay that the federal constituency continues to face significant infrastructure challenges, lacking essential access roads and facilities, including healthcare centers and modern markets equipped with sanitation facilities.
She pledged to address these issues by collaborating with ministries, departments, and agencies of government, similar to the approach taken by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to attract projects and implement programs that will support widows.
Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu indicated her intention to launch her campaign in Egbu during the first week of November, citing her longstanding relationship with the community.
Prominent residents of the Egbu Community expressed their support for her candidacy, including Oha George Ibeawuchi, Mr. John Amanze Okoro, and Victor Onyemaobi.
Oha George Ibeawuchi committed to joining the campaign efforts, while Mr. John Amanze Okoro, a former bank executive, emphasized that the Constitution permits women to contest elections in both their ancestral and marital communities. He encouraged women to actively participate in the 2027 elections, assuring them of support from their male counterparts.
Additionally, Victor Onyemaobi, a grassroots politician, advised Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu to campaign with the understanding that it is the turn of Owerri West Local Government Area to produce the next representative for the Federal Constituency. He noted that following the tenures of Hon. Uche Onyeagucha (Owerri West), Hon. Ernest Ibejiako (Owerri Municipal), and Tochukwu Okere (Owerri North), the representation should revert to Owerri West Local Government Area, from which the former First Lady originates.
