Residents Cart Away Empowerment Items At City Boys Movement Rally

Residents of Owerri, Imo State, appropriated empowerment items during a rally organized by the City Boy Movement.

The rally, intended to distribute these items to selected beneficiaries, was disrupted by the actions of the agitated residents.

The event, held at Heroes’ Square, was part of a grassroots mobilization effort in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 general election.

Eyewitnesses reported that the venue quickly became overcrowded after the rally commenced, with minimal crowd control measures, leading to heightened tension among participants and residents present.

Within a short span, the situation escalated as some residents entered the arena, scrambling for the empowerment items.

Videos circulating online depict large crowds rushing toward the stage area, seizing various items including sewing machines, refrigerators, and other packages intended for designated beneficiaries.

The chaotic scene forced several attendees to flee in different directions, compelling organizers and participants to abandon the event.

Witnesses noted that the disorder ensued when the crowd realized the empowerment materials were about to be distributed, prompting a rush as many individuals attempted to procure the items.

The rally was part of the City Boy Movement’s ongoing efforts to mobilize grassroots support for President Tinubu ahead of the next election cycle.

While the group has been active in organizing rallies across various regions, the President has yet to officially declare his candidacy for re-election in 2027.

At the time of this report, neither the rally’s organizers nor security agencies had issued an official statement regarding the disruption.
