Gov Kefas Orders Investigation Into Taraba Varsity
By Godwin Agia, Jalingo
Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, announced on Thursday the establishment of a committee tasked with investigating the Accounting Department of Taraba State University, Jalingo.
This decision comes amidst an ongoing indefinite strike by the university staff.
The announcement was made during the Governor’s reception of a five-year peace plan from the Bureau for Conflict Management Board at TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
Governor Kefas attributed the university’s crisis to corrupt practices, alleging financial misconduct by those responsible for the unrest.
He stated, “The individuals instigating the crisis at Taraba State University have engaged in corrupt activities within the institution.”
The Governor directed the Secretary to the Government of the State, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, to procure documentation from previous investigations concerning the university, with a particular focus on the accounting department.
Furthermore, Governor Kefas commended the Bureau for Conflict Management Board, under the leadership of Bishop Innocent Solomon, for their diligent efforts in developing the peace plan.
“I am highly impressed with your dedication and commitment. I assure you that I will thoroughly review your demands and respond appropriately,” he affirmed.
