Group Debunks Lynching Claim, Affirms Oruh’s Peaceful Role In Ward Congress
The organization known as Mbaitoli Grassroot For Good Governance has refuted claims suggesting that Honorable Ifeanyi Oruh, the Imo State Commissioner for Rural Development and Economic Empowerment, narrowly avoided an attack due to his involvement in the recent ward congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) within the council area.
The group labeled the report as both misleading and malicious, asserting that it has drawn their attention solely for the sake of truth and to uphold public trust.
They explained that the commissioner could not have been involved in an attempt to disrupt the congress because he was returning from an official assignment in Orlu on the day in question, and merely encountered party leaders and stakeholders along the roadside at St. Mary’s Catholic Ubomiri, the congress venue.
The organization noted that the commissioner paused to engage in cordial exchanges during which he was informed about the congress proceedings.
Furthermore, the group emphasized that Honorable Oruh’s involvement facilitated dialogue, reconciliation, and mutual understanding among stakeholders, thereby contributing to the peaceful conduct of the congress.
Additionally, they affirmed that there is no truth in the allegations that the commissioner attempted to seize control of the congress or manipulate the ward lists.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Okebata Chidiebere, the group urged those responsible for the false report to refrain from actions that may destabilize the political environment.
