PDP Holds Grand Reception For Ejiogu, Others
The Imo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will on Friday April 24, 2026 formally welcome several prominent political figures into its fold, marking a significant trend of notable defections to the party within the state.
The event is scheduled to take place at 10:00 AM at the party’s State Secretariat, located at 98 Okigwe Road, Owerri, Imo State.
It will be attended by distinguished party leaders from across the nation, including the National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the Southeast Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC).
Among the new members are High Chief Duru Mike Ejiogu, a renowned business magnate and political leader; Prince Eze Madumere, former Deputy Governor of the State; High Chief Summers Nwokie (Ikukuọma Mbaise); and Hon. Chief Sunny Chiadi, former ENTRACO Chairman and multiple-time Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State.
These individuals have transitioned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP.
Additionally, Barr. Ikenna Emeruem from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Chief Chris Onye, President-General of Igbo Community in Gboko, Benue State, and several other influential figures and political groups from the Labour Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will be officially received.
These influential personalities bring with them a considerable number of supporters from various political affiliations, who have now aligned themselves with the PDP, thereby strengthening its platform and contributing to the increasing momentum of Imolites joining the major opposition party in the State.
This development has bolstered the PDP’s organizational structure and support base, while simultaneously presenting challenges to the ruling party and other opposition parties within the State.
The Imo State chapter of the PDP remains poised to offer credible leadership as an alternative for the State in anticipation of the 2027 general election.
The occasion serves as an affirmation of the growing strength, unity, and renewed confidence in the Peoples Democratic Party under the capable leadership of Sen. Samuel Anyanwu as the State Leader, and Rt. Hon. Austine Nwachukwu, positioning the party as the preferred platform for effective leadership and governance in Imo State.
The party extends an invitation to its members, stakeholders, youth and women groups, support groups, and the general public to attend in large numbers to welcome our national leaders and celebrate this new wave of political realignment and homecoming, which signifies another decisive step towards the PDP’s anticipated victory in 2027 within the State.
