Taraba Gov Says He Can’t Halt Killing Of Tivs By Fulanis

By Godwin Agia, Jalingo

Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has stated that he will not intervene in the ongoing killings and displacement of Tiv people in the state, citing a lack of cooperation from the affected individuals.

In a Christmas Day address to his kinsmen in Wukari, Governor Kefas advised the Tiv people to continue writing and complaining, stating that he does not care.

He emphasized his stance, saying, “I have been receiving text messages from some Tiv people that I should intervene in the killings against them by Fulani and others but I can’t intervene. How will I intervene when you are not cooperating?. If they like, they should keep writing and complaining but I don’t care. I am the governor and I have the final say.”

The governor reiterated his commitment to establishing a Military Forward Operating Base in Ikyaior and Jandekyura, stating that he will not be swayed by claims of ancestral ownership of the land.
