Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State will Saturday, May 27, 2023, be conferred with the Grand Service Star of Rivers State (GSSRS) award in recognition of his contributions and commitment to national unity and equity.
The award, which is the Rivers State’s highest, will be conferred on Governor Uzodimma by his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
The news of the award was conveyed in a letter signed by Governor Wike.
The letter reads: ” I am pleased to notify you of my approval for conferring the highest Rivers State Honours on you as the Grand Service Star of Rivers State (GSSRS).
“This award recognizes your outstanding commitment and contributions to advancing national unity, equity and justice and your valuable support for Government and people of Rivers.”
Recall that few weeks ago, Governor Wike had declared on a national television that Governor Uzodimma has the capacity “to crush any governorship candidate in Imo State.”
He further expressed confidence that with the achievements of Governor Uzodimma in his first tenure, it was almost certain that his reelection is given.
Reacting, Governor Uzodimma said he will not take the honour bestowed on him by the Rivers State government for granted.
