The Imo State Orientation Agency, in continuation of its campaign against the menace of road side traders in the state on Tuesday visited lNkwo-Orji and Eke Atta markets in Owerri North and Ikeduru Local Government Areas of the state respectively.

Speaking while on a courtesy call at the palace of the traditional rule: of Atta Ancient Kingdom, HRH Ezc, Geoffcry Anika, the Director-General the Agency, Dr. Ethelbert Okcre expressed indignation at the attitude of traders who encroach on major roads in the state with their wares
on market days.

The Director-General, who was represented by the Head of the Administration, Mr. Samuel Anyanwu regretted that more often than not, this behavior by traders has led to difficulties in vehicular and human movements and other forms of inconveniences and even loss of lives and property.

In his remarks, HRH Eze Anika applauded the agency for embarking on what he described as a life-saving campaign.

Ezc Anika disclosed that his cabinet will constitute a taskforce with the aim of carrying ‘out regular
routine checks especially on major market days to ensure that’ traders no longer place their wares on the roads,

Officials of the agency later visited both the Nkwo-Orji and Eke Atta markets where they intimated the market executives and the traders on the dangers of trading on the high ways.
