Gunmen on Sunday kidnapped Caretaker Chairman, Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, Boyi Manja and killed his orderly.
National Newsbreak learnt that the incident occurred at about 2:00pm, along Takum/Wukari Road when the chairman was on his way to Wukari Local Government Area.
The police orderly to the chairman whose identity is yet to be established, according to a source, was killed by the gunmen.
Confirming the incident, the police spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman promised to get back to our correspondent.
The PPRO who said they learnt of the attacks, said the command has not been fully briefed by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the council.
He said ” I hope to get back to you as soon as we are fully briefed by the DPO who is in charge of Takum local government council.”
Also confirming the incident, via a telephone, the leader of Takum Local Government Legislative Council, Pius Bulus Gauva, said ” “it is true that our Caretaker Chairman has been kidnapped.”.
He also confirmed that the council boss orderly was gruesomely murdered by the yet to be identified gunmen.
Describing the attacks as a “rude shock to all of us” he beckoned at the security operatives to as a matter of urgency put in place a mechanism that will facilitate the release of the chairman unhurt.
A family source who also confirmed the incident, lent his weight to that of the leader of the council legislative by calling on the state government to join forces with the security agencies to rescue the council boss.
Takum is the home town of the incumbent governor of the state, Dairus Ishaku
