The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Okenalogho Ward, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State has denied the purported suspension of the member representing Okigwe South Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chike John Okafor from the party.
The party also denied suspending the Chairman of the party in the ward, Magnus Ekene Ihekweme.
In a statement signed by Basil Maduforo, Public Relations Officer and others, the party disclosed that its executives did not at anytime resolve to suspend the federal legislator or its ward chairman.
The party accused Eli Dibia, the Coordinator, Obowo East Development Centre of masterminding the fake suspension.
The party revealed that a meeting convened by Dibia on March 24 which had some members of the ward executive in attendance never discussed anything about the suspension of the lawmaker and the ward chairman.
.
The party maintained that it could not have taken any such decision against Hon. Okafor, who it described as its apex leader and benefactor.
It therefore directed Dibia to apologize and withdraw his letter to the state Chairman conveying the suspension of the duo or be ready to contend with a law suit.
The party passed a vote of implicit confidence in Hon Okafor, adding that its executive chaired by Magnus Ihekweme is still intact.
It tendered an unreserved apology to the lawmaker, urging him not to be discouraged by the machinations of evil plotters.
The party equally urged the lawmaker not to relent in empowering and carrying the people along.
