A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of Labour Party, LP, in Imo State, Dr. Tobechukwu Justice Ehirim has enjoined youths to elect their fellow youth in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Ehirim made the call at the weekend shortly after casting his vote during the March 18 House of Assembly poll in the state.
Dr. Ehirim advised the youths to shun corrupt politicians and back a youth who has no dent in his records to become the next governor of Imo State on November 11, 2023.
He stated that the youths can only be liberated if they halt the “old system” and enthrone their own government.
Ehirim said; “We are moving towards a new Nigeria. This is the beginning of a new era, the era of democracy, good governance, letting the best of us rule the rest of us in all spheres of life.
“Imo State is going into a new era, the era of the youths, I am very elated that the young people of the state have called me to come up and take the mantle of leadership of Imo State.
“Their overwhelming support moved me to purchase governorship nomination and expression of interest forms under Labour Party.
“They have been traversing the communities to make sure I lift the flag of the party for the new Nigeria, that is Labour Party”.
“It doesn’t matter how many people are contesting for this position, but this is our own era, and we want to see our youths enjoying good life in this our generation.
“We want to see an era where people no longer pay school fees. Paying teachers’ salaries as and when due, paying pensioners, paying contractors. I am going to make sure that public procurement is open and transparent for everyone because most of them that worked for the previous government were not paid.
“We are prepared to take Imo from the dungeon where it is, to the level it is supposed to be”.
The Amazano,Njaba-born first class pharmaceutical doctor stated that he has streamlined action plans that would turn round Imo State if he emerges the next governor.
