The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has sacked the state Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Ford Ozumba.

His ouster was announced in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba.

The commissioner declined to give reasons for Mr. Ozumba’s sack.

Emelumba added; “Accordingly, His Excellency further directs that Chief Ozumba hands over to the Permanent Secretary of his Ministry with immediate effect”

Observers believe that Ozumba’s sack cannot be unconnected to the strike embarked upon by the organized labour in the state.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, President, Joe Ajaero, had directed workers to stay at home, close the Imo Airport and cut off electricity supply to the state

The strike which started midnight Wednesday has crippled activities in the state.
