The Senator-elect for Okigwe Senatorial Zone, Patrick Ndubueze has requested the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue him with Certificate of Return (CoR).
He also lauded the INEC for conducting free, fair and credible election in the zone.
The commendation is contained in a letter written by the Ndubueze Divine Project led by its Director General, Hon. Greg Owuamalam on Tuesday.
The letter was delivered to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Sylvia Ogu at the INEC state headquarters through Administrative Affairs Officer, Onyii Emmanuel.
The letter reads in part: “We the entire Divine Project Organization and teeming supporters of Hon. Engr Ndubueze Patrick C. wish to commend INEC for free, fair and credible election for Imo North Senatorial Zone.
“We also urge INEC to issue Hon. Engr Ndubueze Patrick C. his certificate of Return (CoR)”.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the letter was delivered, the DG said that members of Ndubueze 2023 Divine Project, the people of Okigwe Zone and all Imolites, are happy with the conduct and outcome of the 2023 election and hoping that the few logistics challenges which were witnessed will be improved upon in future elections.
The DG explained that they had to request for immediate issuance of CoR to the Senator-elect because, according to him, Engr Ndubueze contested and won same position in 2019, but was denied certificate of return because of a little delay.
He said; “This is to avoid the incident of 2019 election where he won and lost at the same time”.
He thanked the people of Okigwe Zone who came out en masse to elect Engr Ndubueze as their Senator.
Responding to question on why he has remained with Eng Patrick Ndubueze since 2019, he said it is because the senator Elect has so much to offer.
