Orlu Zone Jubilates As Izunaso Wins Senate Seat

The emergence of Sen Osita Izunaso as the senator-elect for Orlu zone has thrown the area into ecstatic jubilation.

Our correspondent gathered that immediately the INEC Returning Officer, Dr Casmir Akaolisa announced Izunaso as the winner of the election with over 73,000 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Chief Charles Ahize of the Labour Party, there were gun shots in many local government areas across the zone.

Some of the indigenes of the area disclosed that the emergence of Sen Izunaso is well deserved and a true reflection of the wishes of Orlu people.

Chief Eze Ifedi from Ideato North LGA said that he was happy that finally Sen Izunaso emerged, adding that Orlu people insisted on the best and indeed got the best.

He noted that he had always believed in the capacity of Izunaso to do well having garnered experience over the years.

Hon Gideon Meffor from Ohaji/Egbema while congratulating Sen Izunaso affirmed that his victory is a victory of competence over mediocrity, stressing that Sen Izunaso is the best among the rest.

He said that Orlu people made a good choice and stand to benefit from the choice they made in Izunaso.

A retired public servant from Oguta LGA, Mrs. Florence Ugwuegbu expressed happiness at the emergence of Sen Izunaso arguing that none of the other contestants have all it takes to represent the zone at the senate.

She stated that she slept very well on the night that Sen Izunaso was declared Senator of Orlu zone.

At Oru West, the home LGA of Sen Izunaso, youths were seen driving around the LGA headquarters Mgbidi in a motorcade waving APC and Nigerian flags in celebration.

Canon shots were also fired as a mark of joy.

At the Owerri residence of the senator, people gathered in their hundreds dancing and singing in celebration together with the senator-elect as there were enough to drink and eat.

The road leading to the home of the senator in Owerri was jampacked with vehicles.
