Police Nab Fake Prophet, Woman Over Attempted Murder

Operatives of the Imo State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department have arrested a 34-year-old self-acclaimed prophet, Osinachi Makuo from Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.over the attempted murder of a young man.

Also arrested ,for same alleged offence was a 50-year-old woman, Maria Nwabueze from Umuekwe Mgbidi, Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State.

The spokesman for the police in the state, Henry Okoye disclosed of the arrest in a statement.

Okoye said the 24-year-old young man, Ikenga Ezenyi is the son of the woman’s ex-husband.

According to the police spokesman, the arrest followed a petition written by Ikenga’s father, Ike Ezenyi of Umuehi Oru West Local Government Area to the state Commissioner of Police

He further disclosed that the operatives had swung into action upon receipt of the petition and arrested the suspected felons while the cohorts of the self-acclaimed prophet are still at large.

According to the police image-maker, the suspects abducted Ikenga Exenyi, took him to Holy Sabbath Mission at Uzunamu Mgbidi in Oru West Local Government Area for prayers and deliverance.

Okoye further disclosed that Ikenga’s hands were tied to a tree for three days and his feet chained, adding that the suspects also tortured him till his palms became swollen and rotten.

He said Ikenga was eventually rescued by his father and youths of Uzunamu Community who took him for treatment at the hospital where his palms were amputated to save his life.

The police spokesman added that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

He cautioned Imolites to be wary of those who hold themselves out as prophets, prayer warriors and healers in order to hoodwink members of the public and make merchandise of them
