National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has urged the new President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero to partner with opposition parties for rapid economic growth of the country.
According to him, Ajaero came on board when workers have lost trust due to poor and harsh policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the country.
He regretted that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government abandoned workers and treated them with levity.
The PDP National Secreraty further charged the NLC boss to devise strategies aimed at solving Labour-Government issues over minimum wage, expressing hope that his election will guarantee good welfare packages for workers in Nigeria.
Anyanwu stated that for other aspirants in the election to withdraw in order to pave way for his emergence speaks volume of his wide acceptance and devotion to the union.
He therefore appealed to Ajaero to resist every pressure from government to betray his members, admonishing him to do everything possible to regain the integrity of the union before NLC becomes an APC laughing stock.
Anyanwu congratulated Ajaero and those elected alongside with him on their emergence.
He expressed optimism that the union will experience robust, viable and proactive leadership under Ajaero, having served as National Secretary and Deputy President of NLC respectively without blemish.
