Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested three of the six-member gang suspected to have robbed a Pharmacy located at Works Layout, Owerri, Imo State capital on January 19, this year.
The arrestedsuspects are Ogbonna Vincent ‘m’ aged 27 years of Ebonyi State, Ejike John ‘m’ 30 years of Abia State and Ikemba Joseph ‘m’ 28years of Abia State.
According to the spokesperson of the police in the state, ASP Henry Okoye, the gang reportedly stormed the pharmacy and robbed its owner, Uchenna Ohia and his members of staff of their belongings.
Okoye added that the hoodlums did not stop at robbing their victims of their belongings but also forced Ohia into the booth of his Toyota car and drove off.
The police spokesperson said Ohia miraculously escaped from the booth of his car, a 2007 Toyota Corolla model with Registration Number WER330AJ.
He further informed that following complaint lodged by Ohia, the Quick Intervention Team of the command swung into action and was able to trace the vehicle to Matel Bott Fuel Station, Rumuokoro in Obiakpo LGA of Rivers State, where it was recovered on January 23.
Okoye said investigation is still ongoing and the three suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Barde has commended the officers and men for their pro-activeness and urged them not to relent in their efforts to rid the state fo criminal elements.
Barde also thanked Imolites for their support and collaboration with security agents to ensure miscreants are weeded out from the society.
