The Imo Liberation Movement (ILM) says it would no longer tolerate smear campaigns against former Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha.
Director-General of the group, Emeka Nwokeke disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Nwokeke lauded Ihedioha for exhibiting what he termed extraordinary maturity in the management of the crisis engulfing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State.
He posited that Ihedioha is a man of integrity and capacity who plays mature politics.
Nwokeke said the group would not tolerate further assault on the former governor by political miscreants whose aim is to discredit him.
He described Ihedioha’s seven months as governor as matchless in all ramifications.
Nwokeke said the warning became necessary following series of media attacks and a fresh plot to launch coordinated attacks and smear campaigns against Ihedioha just to score cheap political points.
The group described as unthinkable and unacceptable that some enemies of the people with no political value could accuse Ihedioha of masterminding the sacking of Jones Onyereri as candidate of the PDP for Imo West Senatorial District by the Supreme Court.
Nwokeke said; “This is madness, unthinkable and abnormal for people to fabricate lies against an innocent man who was a victim of the same Supreme Court”.
The group maintained that such act is evil taken too far and advised PDP to expel members who are found wanting.
The group sympathized with Onyeriri, who they described as a peaceful party man and a big political asset in Orlu Zone.
It counseled him to put what happened behind him and move on with life.
