Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Cosmas Iwu has declared the state governor, Hope Uzodimma as the best thing to happen to the state.
Iwu made the remark on Saturday, January 21 at the civic reception floated by Okigwe people in honour of the governor.
Iwu added that the state has witnessed unprecedented development due to the commitment, passion and sincerity of purpose of the administration of Governor Uzodimma.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof Maurice Iwu said that Governor Uzodimma has demonstrated in no small measures his love for Okigwe zone.
According to the former National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, no reception held in his honour could compensate for the good things the people of Okigwe zone have received from the governor since he mounted the saddle.
Prof. Iwu said that the reception was an opportunity for his people to thank the governor for his love for Okigwe zone and to reassure him that they are with him in his effort to reposition Imo State for good.
A former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim commended the governor for being a friend of Okigwe zone, specifically saying that “Okigwe supports Governor Uzodimma 100 percent and anywhere he goes, Okigwe will go.”
Other leaders of Okigwe including the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Emeka Nduka, Senator Frank Ibezim, the APC senatorial candidate for Okigwe zone, Patrick Ndubueze, the Vice Chancellor of University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Prof. C.C. Eze, the Anglican Bishop of Isi-Mbano, Bishop Godson Ukanwa, the Head of Service, Imo State, Raymond Ucheoma, former Speaker, Maxwell Duru, elder statesman, EJK Onyewuchi, the Chairman, Ben Uwajumogu College of Education, Ihitte Uboma, Eze Oliver Ohanweh, Dr. Eddy Anyanwu and Dr. Lina Okereke also praised the governor for his kind gestures to the people.
The Anglican Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. Onuoha prayed for peace both in Okigwe zone, Imo State, South East and Nigeria as a whole.
Responding, Governor Uzodimma thanked the leadership of Okigwe zone for their thoughtfulness in finding him worthy of the honour and promised not to disappoint their reasonable expectation.
Governor Uzodimma was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Eze Chukwumere Eze Okigwe (King crowned by God) by all the traditional rulers from the six local government areas that make up Okigwe zone.
