The gunmen that kidnapped the Sole Administrator of the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Chris Ohizu, have reportedly beheaded him.
Our correspondent gathered that the beheading took place on Sunday, January 22.
The beheading was allegedly carried out by his abductors after the sum of N6million had been paid as ransom.
The council boss was on Friday, January 20 kidnapped alongside two others after his country home at Ndimoko Community in the Arondizuogu area of the local government area was razed.
The abductors also shot him on the leg and killed his security dog before whisking him away..
Videos of his beheading surfaced online on Sunday evening.
In the video, he was forced to knee and his two hands tied behind him.
A voice was heard telling the captive that he thought moving with military escorts would save him.
The owner of the voice which claimed they are neither members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB nor Eastern Security Network, ESN, but are out to fight for the liberation of the people of the Eastern region.
A source said; ” They beheaded the Ideato North Sole Administrator on Sunday. They posted the video of his beheading with his phone on his own WhatsApp status. This was how people got to know that he has been beheaded.
“He was sliced after collecting a ransom of N6million. He was killed in such an inhuman way. The videos are terrifying. May God heal our land.”
The spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, said that investigation was on going
