National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has threatened to cripple activities in Imo State if Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere suffers any further attack.
Ugochinyere, Spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Ideato Federal Constituency, had about a month ago escaped assassination when his convoy was attacked.
His residence at Akokwa had also been attacked and no fewer than three persons killed and vehicles burnt on January 14, 2023.
NAPS, in a statement signed by its Vice President, Special Duties, Comr. Obioha Collins C., said attack on Ugochinyere is an attack on ‘comrades’.
The students stated that they will engage in a protest to destabilize activities in the state if Ugochinyere, whom they described as a ‘leader in the struggle’ is attacked again.
They called on security agencies to rise up to the responsibility of protecting lives and property by arresting those behind the attack and prosecuting them
The students frowned that no arrest has been made since the attack on Ugochinyere’s convoy.
“This has become a threat to Imo comrades, so we call on the governor of the state whose duty is to protect lives and property in the state, any further attack shall leave us with the option of protest to destabilize activities of the state”, the group stated
