Gunmen on Friday, January 20 kidnapped the Sole Administrator (SOLAD) of Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Hardway Christopher Ohizu.
The gunmen also kidnapped two others alongside the local government boss.
Before whisking away to an unknown destination, the gunmen reportedly set Hardway’s home ablaze and battered his leg with bullets.
Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen shot dead Hardway’s security dog for barking and trying to stand in their way to seizing the SOLAD.
A reliable source told our correspondent that the malefactors also kidnapped the SOLAD’s ward Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as well as an APC leader in the area, Christopher Okeke.
The source disclosed that Ohizu was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, January 19 after spending 10 days only for him to be kidnapped in early hours of the following day.
The source said; “The Ideato North Sole Administrator, Hon Hardway Christopher Ohizu was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Friday around 12:30am.
“The gunmen who shot Hon Ohizu on the leg killed his security dog , set his house ablaze.
“They also kidnapped his ward chairman as well as one of the APC leaders of the LGA, Hon. Christopher Okeke, who is also from Ndimoko Arondizuogu.
“The council boss who was hospitalized for ten days in a hospital at Owerri was discharged on Thursday, 19th January 2023 before the incident in the early hours of Friday”.
When contacted, the new spokesman of the state police command, Henry Okoye promised to verify and get back to our correspondent.
The kidnap of the SOLAD and two others is happening few days after the spokesperson of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Imo Ugochinyere Ikenga’s home at Akokwa, Ideato North LGA was similarly attacked.
Three persons including Ugochinyere’s uncle were said to have been killed and about 30 vehicles razed during the attack.
