The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Friday, January 20 sacked the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2023 poll in Aboh Mbaise/ Ngor Okpala federal Constituency of Imo State, Albert Agulanna.
His sack comes less than a fortnight after the Supreme Court nullified the primary poll that produced Hon. Jones Onyereri as candidate of the PDP for Imo West Senatorial District poll.
The Court of Appeal ordered the PDP to conduct a fresh primary in the Federal Constituency within the next 14 days.
One Dr Uzoma Ugochukwu from Aboh Mbaise had challenged the emergence of Agilanna as the PDP candidate in the federal constituency.
Former governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha hails from the affected federal constituency.
Ihedioha was accused of masterminding the sacking of Onyereri.
This time, the National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu is being fingered as the brain behimd Agulanna’s ouster.
Ihedioha and Anyanwu have been at daggers-drawn over the PDP’s ticket for the November 11 Imo State governorship election.
Anyanwu’s camp has been insistent that Ihedioha must give way for the party to produce another person preferably its prinicipal as the gubernatorial flag bearer of the party.
Its argument is that Ihedioha has had the ticket for two consecutive times in 2015 and 2019.
Ihedioha lost the governorship poll in 2015 but clinched the seat in 2019.
Her was however sacked by the Supreme Court seven months into his tenure on January 14, 2020.
Anyanwu’s camp dismisses him as a man lacking in balls for allowing another man, a fourth placed contestant to upstage him.
Meanwhile, the skesperson of the party in the state, Collins Opuruozor has blamed enemies of the party who are afraid of the party’s public acceptance of using the courts to knock out its candidates from the ballot.
