A group, Imo Coalition for Justice, Peace and True Democracy (ICJTD) has described the call for the arrest of Nze Chinasa Nwaneri as a ploy to divert attention of the public from the criminal charge pending before an Abuja Court against the PDP House of Representatives candidate for Ideato Federal Constituency, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.
Ugochinyere and the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) had called for the arrest of Nze Nwaneri, the Special Adviser to Imo State Governor on Special Duties shortly after gunmen attacked him (Ugochinyere) at his Akokwa home.
Reports said four perrsons including Ugochinyere’s uncle were killed during the attack.
The ICJTD however queried when it became an offence or threat to life to sue a person.
In a statement signed by the group’s Spokesperson, Abumaraeze Okechukwu and made available to newsmen, the group called on the relevant authorities particularly the judiciary not to fall for the antics of Ugochinyere to evade the ongoing criminal charge against him.
Okechukwu noted that Ugochinyere has constantly refused to appear in court to answer to the charge.
According to the group, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri dragged Ugochinyere to court, asking him to prove his allegation that he (Nwaneri) was involved in alleged over registration of people in Omuma, the country home and political ward of the sitting Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
