The Chairman, People’s Redemption Party, PRP, Taraba State chapter, Abdullahi Maikasuwa on Tuesday said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) were sponsoring smear campaign aimed at stopping his party from sweeping the general polls.
He also cleared himself of charges of corrupt enrichment and denied being suspended from office.
Speaking on the occasion of presentation of certificates of return to candidates contesting for various offices on the platform of the party, Maikasuwa said those trying to paint him black want to stop the victory dance of the party in the 2023 general polls.
The chairman alleged that those behind the allegation were being sponsored by both PDP and APC who feel threatened, having seen that the waves of victory were favouring the PRP in Taraba.
Hear him; “I want to make it clear to you that I am not suspended, and I do not have corruption elements in me.
“I have never displayed any act of corruption or any act that is contrary to the provisions of our party’s constitution. The national secretariat of our party is headed by people of integrity and would not accommodate any corrupt practice from any one.
“I am a man with no questionable character, those behind the false allegations against me are being sponsored by both PDP and APC to destroy the super waves been established by our party for possible victory.
“Both the PDP and APC are feeling threatened by the kind of support we gaining by the day ahead of the election, and that is why have succeeded in injecting into some of our members to destroy our waves ahead of the election.
“I wish to however call on every member of the party to throw behind whatever feeling they may be having against me and join me to deliver the party in all positions”.
Earlier, Haj. Rekiya Sani, the PRP National Woman Leader urged members to explore all possible ways without the inclusion of violence to ensure victory for the party both at the national and in Taraba State.
Responding on behalf of other candidates,. Mansur Babanyaya pledged their continued loyalty for the party for the interest and development of Taraba State.
Mansur disclosed that they have already deployed machineries at the local levels to ensure victory in the elections.
