The death has occurred of Madam Catherine Anaga Nkwogu of Umukabiri Nsokpo Ogbaku Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of lmo State.
She died on August 17, 2022 at the age of 87 years after a brief illness.
Madam Catherine Anaga Nkwogu, Ada Ukwu of Ogbaku’, was the daughter of Daniel Nworji lwuagwu, the son of lwuagwu Ekwealua, one of the foremost traditional medicine men for which Ogbaku Ancient kingdom was known, but married into the Nkwogu dynasty in Ogbaku Autonomous Community, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of lmo State.
Announcing her death on behalf of the family, Mr. Balincom Daniel Nkwogu (son) stated that Madam Catherine Nkwogu, during her active days started as a school teacher in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and later worked at the UNTH Enugu and Alvan lkeoku College of Education Owerri, lmo State as secretary/Stenographer where she retired from service.
She was an executive member of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Imo State chapter, and led various women organizations.
She used her position and wealth of experience to mould the younger generation of women to become effective partners in family building.
The erstwhile politician and socialite, towards the later part of her life became a notable counselor and character-moulder for younger persons who came her way while alive.
Lamenting the death, Mazi Nati Iwuagwu described his late sister as a peace-maker and an effective balancer in issues of life who never allowed family matters to go beyond control.
Her remains, earlier deposited at Aladinma Mortuary Hospital Owerri, will be buried on December 23, 2022 at the family compound, Umukabiri Nsokpo Ogbaku Autonomous Community Mbaitoli Local Government Area of lmo State.
