A renowned engineer, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has called for a critical study to find solutions to the climate changes ravaging the universe.
Iwuanyanwu made the call at a dinner party he organised for the National President of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Engr Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil and his executive in Owerri, Imo State.

The engineering guru said that the devastating effect of the climatic changes was terribly affecting man and his environment.
He said that the situation demands urgent attention from all professionals especially engineers.
Iwuanyanwu also observed that the young engineers are not given the opportunity to showcase themselves and wondered how they could practice what they were taught.
He noted that roads and bridges were being constructed by governments and the young engineers were not being recruited or assigned any duty.
Iwuanyanwu stated that he reconstructed the Enugu Airport as a pupil engineer,, adding that such was accomplished because of the opportunity given to him by his boss.
He also recalled that the asphaltic concrete being used in the country was a result of experiment and research he carried out as a young engineer and advised that the young engineers should be given similar opportunities
The scientist maintained that when the civil war broke out in Nigeria, the head of the Biafran Engineers, Professor Godian Ezekwe recruited some brilliant engineering students from the University of Nigeria Nsukka who manufactured rockets and bombs for the war.
He advised that professional engineers should be made ministers and commissioners of works.
Iwuanyanwu said that engineers have played major roles in transforming the environment and its landscape.
He wondered how the world would have been without engineers.
Iwuanyanwu said that he is proud to be an engineer and pointed out that the profession made him whatever he is today.
He addedf that it was his feat as a young engineer that earned him his first National Honour of Member Federal Republic – MFR.
He commended former President Ibrahim Babangida and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for recognising his engineering prowess and appointing him pioneer Chairman of the Raw Marterials Research Council and Chairman of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA.
He noted that as Chairman of the Governing Council , University of Calabar, he ensured that a Faculty of Engineering was established among other courses.
He commended the executive of the Nigeria Society of Engineers for embarking on a studies to curb the menace of environmental degradation.
In his speech, the National President of NSE, Engr Gidari-Wudil said that Chief Iwuanyanwu has played roles in the development of the engineering profession in the country.
Wudil described Iwuanyanwu as the father of engineering profession in Nigeria and pleaded with him to continue to sustain the tempo.
