National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has urged leaders of the party in Okigwe Zone to work towards delivering all candidates in the 2023 elections.
Anyanwu made the appeal at the weekend while addressing ward, local government area chairmen and stakeholders of PDP from Okigwe Zone as part of his one-day official working visit to Imo State.
Anyanwu who declined to comment on governorship poll, said that he visited the state to canvass for votes and support in his capacity as PDP National Secretary, noting that the party’s victory remains the only priority for the people.
The National Secretary further enjoined them to ensure that no candidate of PDP fails in the 2023 elections whether they love such candidate or not, adding that unity, peace and cohesion remain the factors that could encourage victory.
Anyanwu admonished them not to allow personal skirmishes to distract them from working for the party, expressing optimism that with their support, PDP will sack the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2023.
Speaking on behalf of the two federal constituencies in the zone, Bartholomew Ohakelem (Okigwe South), and Kenneth Opara (Okigwe North) assured the party’s National Secretary of their readiness to support the party.
Meanwhile, former members of the Imo State House of Assembly have endorsed the PDP National Secretary, Senator Anyanwu for the 2023 governorship position in the state.
Moving the motion, member who represented Obowo Constituency, Celestine Ngobiwu, seconded by former member for Isu Constituency, Innocent Onwuemenyi on behalf of their colleagues resolved to support Senator Anyanwu to realize the vision.
Other former members present included, Damian Ogu, Bruno Ukoha, and Emeka Nwofor.
Theys described Anyanwu as a leader with an open heart, adding that the grace of God upon him is so much that no one could stop him.
