The Coordinator for Ideato North PDP Campaign Council, Hon. Chiedozie Ejieji has insisted the party’s candidate for Ideato Federal Constituency in the forthcoming election, Barr. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere is the man to beat.
Hon. Ejieji, on behalf of PDP in Ideato North passed a vote of implicit confidence in Ikenga, maintaining that he is accepted across party lines.
The coordinator, who stated this during the PDP Grassroots Campaign Tour in Ideato, averred that PDP Ideato North is taking their campaign to the grassroots, adding that 2023 elections will be different from previous ones.
According to him, with the introduction of BVAS and electronic transmission of results, the votes of the electorate must count.
He described Ikenga as the most competent, credible and marketable House of Representatives candidate among all the candidates in Imo State.
He stated that having the assurance that 2023 votes will count, there is a lot of work to be done in taking the campaign to the nooks and crannies of Ideato nation.
The coordinator said the tour was geared towards sensitizing the ward chairmen, ward executive and booth campaign structures, energizing and charging them to further take the message to the grassroots.
According to him, PDP had the most structured, clean, clear and transparent primary election which produced Barr. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere who he said has distinguished himself in character, and political participation, starting from when he was SSA to Governor Ikedi Ohakim and when he worked with former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The PDP leader stated: “With Barr. Ugochinyere and few others like him in the Federal House, the principle of checks and balances would be strongly entrenched, nobody can take his likes for granted.
“He has held several administrations accountable to the oath they swore to defend the integrity of the people. In the case of Nnamdi Kanu, he has been a vocal advocate that Kanu should be given freedom in line with extant laws.
“He is a just fighter, a messenger of truth and a man you can trust. Ikenga is not just the best candidate in Ideato Federal Constituency, he is the best candidate in the entire state.
“Ikenga was the person who ensured that PDP did not conduct the primary election without following the Electoral Act. Just recently, he was able to call INEC to order concerning falsification in the voters’ register. If a man can be this vocal, and has spoken truth to power, not just to this administration but to previous administrations, there is no doubt that he will be a good representative”.
Hon. Ejieji urged Ideato people to support and vote for Ugochinyere, reminding them of what they stand to gain by having a youthful, pragmatic, vocal, courageous and credible Federal Legislator of PDP, a party he said is committed to salvaging, transforming and repositioning Imo State and Nigeria for the good of all”.
