The Imo Newspaper Publishers Association (INPA) has congratulated the editor of StarPost Newspaper, Ifeanyi Nwanguma on his election as Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council.

In a statement signed by Chairman, Declan Anaele and Secretary, Leonard Ajokubi, INPA rejoiced over Nwangma’s resounding victory at the poll held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 by the union.

Nwanguma was elected unopposed after Chris Akaraonye, another contestant for the position of chairman stepped down.

INPA said Nwanguma’s election is a reflection of the appreciation of practicing journalists in the state for his numerous contributions to the growth of the union in the state.

It enjoined the new chairman to do association proud by taking the journalism profession in the state to the next and higher level.

The association assured Nwanguma and his executive of its unwavering and unalloyed support and prayed God to give them the courage and wisdom to offer effective and purposeful leadership to the union.

Others also elected at the poll were Emmanuel Odibo (Vice Chairman), Treasure Ihechi Nwamah (Secretary) and Longinus Anyanwu (Auditor).

Vacant positions in the union are to be filled via bye-elections to be conducted in a fortnight.
