The National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has accused a candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Theodore Chinonso Uba of collecting N250,000 to smear his name.
Anyanwu, popularly known as Samdaddy made the accusation at the weekend in a statement signed by his media aide, Ikenna Onuoha.
According to Anyanwu, Uba, who is popularly known as Nonsonkwa collected the gratification from a desperate governorship aspirant in the state.
He therefore dismissed the allegation levelled by Nonsonkwa via a video that he was working in concert with some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to rig the 2023 House of Representatives poll in Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency
He also dismissed Nonsonkwa’s allegation that he wants to rig the said poll in favour of the PDP candidate, Osmond Imo Ukanacho.
Anyanwu described Uba’s claim as not only false, baseless and misleading but also pure blackmail.
The statement reads in part; “The truth of the matter is that Senator Anyanwu is not known for rigging elections since he joined politics in 1998, and as such not interested in any act that can create crisis and jeopardize the peace and unity of Mbaitoli/Ikeduru federal constituency.
“While Senator Anyanwu recognizes Chinonso Uba (Nonso Nkwa) as his younger brother struggling to survive decently, it therefore becomes surprising that Nonso Nkwa could accept to blackmail him no matter the amount involved.
“Information available to our disposal has it that Chinonso Uba’s sudden outburst was triggered after he was allegedly given N250, 000 to blackmail his elder brother by a known desperate governorship aspirant in the state.
“For Chinonso Uba to ever imagine that his elder brother and PDP National Scribe could involve himself in such a dirty game to cause mayhem in his area is indeed, most embarrassing and unwholesome.
“What Chinonso Uba did not understand is that Senator Anyanwu never won any election through rigging, let alone carrying out such illegality for another person.
“Our worry is that Chinonso Uba forgot so soon that the 2023 elections will be cast and transmitted electronically thereby making any form of rigging very difficult.
“It is unfair for Nonso Nkwa to join the band wagon to peddle falsehood against a man working tirelessly to enthrone good governance in the state”.
