Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has sacked the Vice Chancellor, Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (IMUAES), Umuagwo, Prof Patrick Egbule.
The governor swiftly appointed Prof Christopher Chiedozie Eze to replace Prof Egbule in acting capacity.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Imo State(SGI), Cosmas Iwu announced the development.
The statement reads: “The Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma has approved the immediate removal of Prof Patrick Egbule as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Imo state University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo.
“Consequently, in accordance with the law establishing the university, His Excellency has approved the immediate appointment of Prof Christopher Chiedozie Eze as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo.
“While His Excellency wishes the former acting Vice Chancellor well in his future endeavours, he charges the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Chiedozie Eze to apply himself to the highest standards in the administration of the young institution”.
The Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is a public University established by the Act of Imo State Parliament Law No. 4 of 2019 (Amended Law No. 7 of 2020).
The take-off campus is located on the site of the Imo Polytechnic, Umuagwo, a town in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State and 26km from Owerri on the Port-Harcourt Road.
On the 18th of April 2019, the National Universities Commission (NUC) approved UAES as the 49th State and 171st university in the Nigerian University system and the second public university established and fully owned by Imo State Government.
The thirty-one (31) undergraduate programmes are approved to run on the full time mode at the university with effect from the 2020/2021 academic session under five schools/faculties.
