The 2023 All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Ahiazu Mbaise Constituency seat in the Imo State House of Assembly, Nduka Anyanwu who was abducted Tuesday has regained his freedom.

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen seized the candidate while he was finalizing arrangements for his booth agents in the constituency.

A source disclosed that Anyanwu who was whisked away at about 9:00am in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area was let off the hook by his captors about nine hours later in a bush in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state.

The source said upon his abduction, the Department of State Service (DSS) and other relevant security agencies were alerted and tracking calls were made on his phone.

The source added that his captors, who were ostensibly afraid they might be tracked down, abandoned him in a bush and he managed to navigate his way out of the bush to return home safe and sound.
