The editor of the StarPost Express Newspaper, Ifeanyi Nwanguma has emerged the new Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council.
He emerged during an election conducted on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the NUJ Press Centre in New Owerri, the Imo State capital
According to the Secretary of the Credentials Committee, Nze Collins Amadi, Nwanguma emerged after another Chairmanship contender, Chris Akaraonye stepped down.
Meanwhile, congratulatory messages have been pouring in for Nwanguma over his success at the poll.
Chuks Anyanwu felicitated with Nwanguma over his emergence even as he lauded the former Chairman, Chris Akaraonye for stepping down to pave way for Nwanguma’s election.
Hear Anyanwu; “Congratulations to Nwanguma.That the former Chairman stepped down deserves commendation.
“l know, it might not have been easy to do that, but the interest of the union should be paramount.
“Congratulations to lmo NUJ. l believe tomorrow will be better!”
Nkechi Ogazi also lauded Nwanguma’s emergence and prayed God to imbue him with the requisite wisdom to pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years.
Innocent Onyeukwu, Kachy Madukaego, Destiny Udodiri and IheanyiEnwerem equally congratulated Nwanguma on his election.
They also prayed God to guide his executive to deliver the goods and restore peace in the union.
Others who were also elected were Emmanuel Odibo(Vice Chairman) and Treasure Ihechi Nwamah(Secretary).
