The member representing Owerri North Constituency, Philip Ejiogu has accused the Minority Leader of Imo state House of Assembly, Anyadike Nwosu of misappropriating $50,000(about N35million) meant for members of the opposition in the legislature.
Ejiogu leveled the allegation at Tuesday plenary in a petition presented to the House by member representing Ideato South Constituency, Johnson Duru.
The petition did not say the source of the funds.
But it was gathered that the money was donated to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP members of the House by a South South governor, Nyesom Wike.
Anyadike reportedly shared the money to member-legislators who belong to the camp of the former governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha.
Reacting after the petition had been read out, the Speaker, Emeka Nduka referred the petition to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
Nduka directed the committee to report its findings within two weeks.
Feelers indicate that Anyadike, who represents Ezinihitte Mbaise Constituency might be suspended from the House if found guilty.
Recall that two members of the House, Okey Onyekanma(Mbaitoli, PDP) and Ekene Nnodumele(Orsu, APC) are still serving indefinite suspension.
